Our Trainee and Intern Program

Our programs can last from 3 weeks to 12 months (Interns) or 18 months (Trainees)

The objective of our program is to enhance the skills and expertise of exchange visitors through participation in structured on-the-job training programs. Our program improve participants’ knowledge of American techniques, methodologies, and technology while also exposing them to American culture and society.

Note: Our program cannot be used as a substitute for ordinary employment or work purposes and it cannot displace American workers.

Expenses

When participating in J1X’s Trainee and Intern program, you should expect the following expenses:

Processing fee

To participate in the Trainee/Intern program, J1X charges a J-1 processing fee of $1,495.

Sevis and insurance fees

You will also need to pay a $220 Sevis fee and mandatory J-1 program and insurance fee of $125 per month.

Local expenses

While you are participating in the Trainee/Intern program, you will also incur normal living expenses, just like you would at home. The amounts vary by location, but you should expect to spend around $900 or more for housing, $200 for utilities, $250 for food and $100 for local transportation.
